Smartphone cameras made everyone a photographer and every ‘moment’ an image, but a new trend suggests the public may be turning to the pros.

A Wall Street Journal feature, cited by Kathleen Davis on Pop Photo, tracks a new trend in vacationers getting the snaps taken by professional photographers – with any retouching included.

It’s being lead by high-end resorts who are including the price of the photography shoot in their package offerings. “The Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora,” reports the WSJ, “is planning to unveil a Romance room-service menu in August that will feature a couples’ photo session. Walt Disney World in 2010 started selling a $350 one-hour Enhanced Portrait Session.”

But freelance photographers have also spotted this opportunity and offering a service that apparently is especially welcome for extended families who holiday together and don’t need the pressure of designating a family member to be a photographer for a week.
