Fong Qi Wei, a conceptual fine-art photographer based in Singapore.

“My philosophy is that an artist is a communicator, and that the artist’s message should be an authentic one”

Time is a Dimension – While photography can be mostly understood as a medium that freezes moments in time, conveying the passage of it is a notoriously difficult subject to harness.

“I wanted to break out of this restriction of a single slice of time in photography” says Wei.

By splicing together multiple photos taken at different times of the day from the same scene, Fong Qi Wei conveys the transition of time as the sun rises and sets. Rather than using horizontal or vertical lines to create the collage, Wei slices the images with creative patterns, further adding a sense of a ‘time’ dimension in his images.
